Semiprecious Stones ??

Do you have a good opinion of semiprecious stones? Many people don't understand what the word means when used to describe jewelry and have a negative opinion of anything labeled "semi-precious."

This beautiful Aventurine pendant paired with 12k gold plated necklace is a semi-precious stone. This doesn't mean it's not "real," it simply means the stone does not fall into one of four categories, iamond, ruby, sapphire or emerald, established back in the 1800's. Nor is it made of cheap plastic or glass, it's a real stone that bears the unfortunate label of semi-precious!

This article does a much better job of explaining the difference than i can.

It's a shame that semi-precious has taken on the role of "less-than," regardless of either the stones "realness," beauty and monetary value!

Garnets, amethyst, citrine, peridot, topaz, turqoise, pearls are all semi-precious stones, however they rarely are labeled as such by jewelers because of the negative conotation associated with the term. But, they certainly are real, beautiful and valuable!

They sparkle, they dazzle and they shine!

Some are more opaque such as opals or pearls, and others carry that glassy appearance that we treasure!
